What does Yuzakkihim (purify them) mean?

The word Yuzakkihim means "to purify them", and purification, tazkiya, in the literal term means to follow the Shariah, lead the life according to Sunnah, get rid of the evils and attain the true state of heart.

As Muslims, we believe that all four objectives of the Prophetic mission are important, hence purification holds a strong significance in the mission. The Prophetic mission of Yuzakkihim, as explained by the scholars, clearly entails the importance of purification.

Allah mentions the four objectives of the mission as a blessing to the believers, as in the Qur'an: "Allah has truly blessed the believers, for He has sent them a messenger from themselves, who recites His signs to them and purifies them, and teaches them the Book and the Wisdom" [Qur'an, Al Imran 3:164]
