Why is purifying the heart (Tazkiyah) so important?
Because the Qur'an ties success, in this life and the next, directly to it, and because Allah looks not at your appearance or wealth but at your heart.
Purifying the self is one of the four tasks Allah gave the Prophet ﷺ, alongside reciting the Qur'an, teaching the Book, and teaching wisdom. And the Qur'an leaves no doubt about its weight: "He who purifies himself has certainly succeeded," and the eternal gardens are named as "the reward of one who purifies himself."
Just as there are forbidden outward acts, there are forbidden inner states, jealousy, greed, pride, hypocrisy. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Allah does not look at your outward appearance or your wealth; He looks at your heart and your deeds." That is why the inner work is not optional decoration, it is where a person's success is actually decided.
دل کی پاکیزگی (تزکیہ) اتنی اہم کیوں ہے؟
کیونکہ قرآن اسی سے کامیابی کو، اس دنیا میں بھی اور آخرت میں بھی، براہِ راست جوڑتا ہے، اور کیونکہ اللہ تمہاری ظاہری صورت یا مال کو نہیں دیکھتا بلکہ تمہارے دل کو دیکھتا ہے۔
نفس کا تزکیہ اُن چار کاموں میں سے ایک ہے جو اللہ نے نبی ﷺ کو سونپے، قرآن کی تلاوت، کتاب کی تعلیم، اور حکمت کی تعلیم کے ساتھ۔ اور قرآن اس کی اہمیت میں کوئی شک نہیں چھوڑتا: ”بے شک وہ کامیاب ہوا جس نے اپنا تزکیہ کیا،“ اور ہمیشہ رہنے والے باغات کو ”اُس کا اجر جو خود کو پاک کرے“ کہا گیا ہے۔
جیسے کچھ ظاہری اعمال ممنوع ہیں، ویسے ہی کچھ باطنی حالتیں ممنوع ہیں، حسد، لالچ، تکبر، نفاق۔ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا، ”اللہ تمہاری ظاہری صورت یا تمہارے مال کو نہیں دیکھتا؛ وہ تمہارے دل اور تمہارے اعمال کو دیکھتا ہے۔“ یہی وجہ ہے کہ باطنی کام کوئی اختیاری زیبائش نہیں، بلکہ یہی وہ جگہ ہے جہاں انسان کی کامیابی کا حقیقی فیصلہ ہوتا ہے۔
