* Is dhikr (the remembrance of Allah) an innovation?
No. The remembrance of Allah is commanded throughout the Qur'an and Sunnah. Even self-composed supplications and the use of counting-beads have a basis in the Prophet's ﷺ own practice and household.
Some treat gathered or counted remembrance as a later invention. The Sunnah itself answers this: the Prophet ﷺ encouraged supplications that were not fixed formulas, praising a man who called on Allah by His Greatest Name, and one of the Mothers of the Believers counted her glorification of Allah on date-pits without any rebuke.
A remembrance becomes blameworthy only if it displaces a specific supplication the Sunnah legislated for a particular moment. Otherwise, calling on Allah in one's own words, and keeping count of it, are well within the practice the Prophet ﷺ taught.
کیا ذکر (اللہ کی یاد) بدعت ہے؟
نہیں۔ اللہ کے ذکر کا حکم پورے قرآن و سنت میں دیا گیا ہے۔ حتیٰ کہ خود سے ترتیب دی گئی دعائیں اور تسبیح کے دانوں کا استعمال بھی نبی ﷺ کے اپنے عمل اور آپ کے گھرانے میں بنیاد رکھتے ہیں۔
کچھ لوگ مجلسی یا گنتی کے ساتھ کیے گئے ذکر کو بعد کی ایجاد سمجھتے ہیں۔ خود سنت ہی اِس کا جواب دیتی ہے: نبی ﷺ نے ایسی دعاؤں کی ترغیب دی جو مقررہ کلمات نہ تھیں، اور اُس شخص کی تعریف فرمائی جس نے اللہ کو اُس کے اسمِ اعظم سے پکارا، اور اُمہات المومنین میں سے ایک نے کھجور کی گٹھلیوں پر اللہ کی تسبیح کو گنا اور اِس پر کوئی سرزنش نہ ہوئی۔
کوئی ذکر تبھی قابلِ اعتراض ہوتا ہے جب وہ کسی خاص دعا کی جگہ لے لے جسے سنت نے کسی خاص موقع کے لیے مقرر کیا ہو۔ ورنہ اللہ کو اپنے الفاظ میں پکارنا، اور اُس کی گنتی رکھنا، اُسی عمل کے دائرے میں ہے جو نبی ﷺ نے سکھایا۔
