What does a true Sufi actually want, Paradise, or something more?
The heart of a true Sufi is set not on escaping Hell or winning Paradise, but on the love of Allah Himself, and His nearness.
A Sufi's deepest desire is not the reward or the escape. His heart and mind are immersed in the remembrance of Allah, and he finds his pleasure in seeking the love of the Almighty above anything else.
It is related that Rabia Basri prayed: “O Allah, if I worship You out of the fear of the Hellfire, then throw me into the fire; and if I worship You in return for Paradise, then deprive me of it; and if I worship You in hope of Your Grand Visage, then do not deprive me of that Vision.” That is the orientation of the heart toward which tasawwuf trains.
ایک سچا صوفی دراصل کیا چاہتا ہے، جنت، یا اُس سے بڑھ کر کچھ؟
ایک سچے صوفی کا دل جہنم سے بچنے یا جنت پانے پر نہیں، بلکہ خود اللہ کی محبت اور اُس کے قرب پر جما ہوتا ہے۔
صوفی کی سب سے گہری آرزو نہ اجر ہے نہ نجات۔ اُس کا دل اور دماغ اللہ کے ذکر میں ڈوبے رہتے ہیں، اور وہ ہر چیز سے بڑھ کر اللہ تعالیٰ کی محبت کی طلب میں اپنا سرور پاتا ہے۔
روایت ہے کہ رابعہ بصری نے دعا کی: “اے اللہ، اگر میں تیری عبادت دوزخ کے خوف سے کرتی ہوں تو مجھے آگ میں جھونک دے؛ اور اگر میں تیری عبادت جنت کے بدلے کرتی ہوں تو مجھے اُس سے محروم کر دے؛ اور اگر میں تیری عبادت تیرے دیدارِ عظیم کی امید میں کرتی ہوں تو مجھے اُس دیدار سے محروم نہ کرنا۔” یہی وہ رخِ دل ہے جس کی طرف تصوف تربیت دیتا ہے۔
