Why isn’t a sincere heart enough? Why do outward deeds matter?
Because in Islam the inner and outer are one fabric. There is no sincerity without action, and no action becomes worship without sincerity, you cannot have one without the other.
Some say their heart is sincere, so they need not perform the outward acts like prayer. This is a deception. The inner aspect of an action cannot occur without its external counterpart. A person may keep his heart earnest his whole life, yet there is no sincerity until it is joined to action; and he may perform outward acts his whole life, yet they do not become devotion until they are joined to sincerity.
Allah has created for every inner meaning an outer form. Remove the outer, and the inner becomes impossible; remove the inner, and the outer becomes soulless.
صرف مخلص دل کافی کیوں نہیں؟ ظاہری اعمال کیوں اہمیت رکھتے ہیں؟
کیونکہ اسلام میں باطن اور ظاہر ایک ہی تانا بانا ہیں۔ عمل کے بغیر کوئی اخلاص نہیں، اور اخلاص کے بغیر کوئی عمل عبادت نہیں بنتا، تم ایک کو دوسرے کے بغیر نہیں پا سکتے۔
بعض کہتے ہیں کہ اُن کا دل مخلص ہے، اس لیے انہیں نماز جیسے ظاہری اعمال ادا کرنے کی ضرورت نہیں۔ یہ ایک دھوکہ ہے۔ کسی عمل کا باطنی پہلو اُس کے ظاہری پہلو کے بغیر واقع نہیں ہو سکتا۔ ایک شخص ساری عمر اپنے دل کو مخلص رکھے، پھر بھی اُس وقت تک کوئی اخلاص نہیں جب تک وہ عمل کے ساتھ نہ ملے؛ اور وہ ساری عمر ظاہری اعمال بجا لائے، پھر بھی وہ اُس وقت تک عبادت نہیں بنتے جب تک وہ اخلاص کے ساتھ نہ ملیں۔
اللہ نے ہر باطنی معنی کے لیے ایک ظاہری صورت پیدا کی ہے۔ ظاہر کو ہٹا دو، تو باطن ناممکن ہو جاتا ہے؛ باطن کو ہٹا دو، تو ظاہر بے روح ہو جاتا ہے۔
