Q & A
Why can no one reach the station of the Prophet’s Companions?
The Companions of the Beloved Prophet ﷺ were awarded their exalted status on account of his blessed company alone, which illuminated their hearts, and not on account of their deeds. Whatever great deeds many pious and truthful men may have performed in the history of mankind, after the Prophets the Companions of the Beloved Prophet ﷺ without doubt hold the most exalted status.
Their station, the station of Radhi Allah, belongs to the Companions alone, even to one who was with the Beloved Prophet ﷺ for only a few moments, and no one else can reach it.
Mujaddid Alf Thani rahimahullah records in a letter that the honourable Khawja Naqshband rahimahullah said that the path is through company, that due to the company with the best of the persons (Khair-ul-Bashr ﷺ), the noble Companions may Allah be pleased with them are superior over the friends of Allah (Awliya) of the nation, and that no friend of Allah (Wali) can reach the rank of any Companion of the Beloved Prophet ﷺ even if he is Owais Qarni rahimahullah. [Imam Rabbani, Maktoob 69, vol. 3]
A single sight of the Beloved Prophet ﷺ was enough to cleanse a believer's heart. That privilege is not ours, yet we can still keep company with those who have held the chain and made the journey.
