The Naqshbandi Mujaddidi Path.

The Naqshbandi order is one of the principal paths of tasawwuf. It is known for silent remembrance (dhikr) of the heart, and for the close company of a guide who carries the seeker along the way.

The Mujaddidi branch takes its name from Imam Rabbani Hazrat Mujaddid Alf Thani, whose renewal of the path in his age gave the order its Mujaddidi line. Shaykh Humayun Hanif teaches within this tradition.

The chain of transmission.

Every authentic path carries a silsila, a chain of teachers reaching back, teacher by teacher, to the Prophet . It is by this unbroken company that the reality of the path is passed on, and not by books alone.

The full chain of this order will be set out here in time.

The Naqshbandi principles.

The order is known for a set of principles that shape the seeker’s practice and presence. Among them are conscious breathing (hosh dar dam), watchfulness of the step (nazar bar qadam), remembrance (yad kard), and awareness of the heart (wuqoof e qalbi).

These are taught in their place, under guidance, at Khanqah-e-Shamsia in Karachi.
